On January 12, 2010, the western coast of Haiti was devistated by a major earthquake that killed thousands and destroyed the homes of countless citizens. Though the LaCroix Mission was not damaged by the earthqake, many people who have lost their homes in Port au Prince are migrating north, seeking shelter in the northern farming country. In September 2008, Haiti was hit by a succession of severe hurricanes. Click here to learn how the area is recovering from this natural diaster.
It has been the vision and dream of Pastor Vaugelas Pierre to make a better life for the people of Haiti. Since being called to serve in the Lord's harvest field at LaCroix near the end of 1975, God made it clear to Pierre that He wanted a school for children whose parents couldn't afford to send them. Since that time, he has seen the schools grow from less than 200 children to over 3500 by miraculous provision!
Another miracle to celebrate is the passion and love that has grown in the hearts of hundreds of people from all around the United States for LaCroix mission. Pastor Pierre's love for the Haitian people is contagious. As he makes their needs known, others find ways to use their resources to fulfill the need and God's work is done!
